Hello again Woodward Family,
I don't know how it feels to be on your side of these emails, but
to me it seems like I was sitting here yesterday writing last weeks
email. Time really does fly out here. Can you believe that is has
almost been a month since I left the MTC for Oklahoma. Three more days
and I will have been away from Utah for a month, and four more days
until I'll have been in Ada for a month. I am really enjoying it
though. There are always lots of things to be doing.
This last week was going pretty well until Friday evening came
along. I'll tell you what happened in a little bit. I need to tell you
about what happened throughout the week. After I emailed home last
Monday we went out and did our normal P-day activities. Monday evening
was when the day got exciting. As you guys probably know, by 6:00 we
are supposed to be back out doing missionary work. Well at 7:00 we had a
lesson with A woman named Carrie who just moved up here from Texas.
She had been meeting with the sister missionaries down ther for a while
(I'm not sure how long it was). So we were meeting with her to find out
what she knew already and to set up a date for her to be baptized on.
We did all of that and as of right now she is going to be baptized on
December 15th. That was the highlight of my Monday. We now have four
baptismal dates. The reason its four and not five is because right now
we aren't sure if Jerry is going to keep his commitments and be
baptized, But we are working with him to get him there.
We did have another lesson with Christina and Jerry this past
week. It was about the Word of Wisdom. That is going to be a big thing
to overcome with them. And now we are under a time limit to help them
do everything that they need to because they are moving on Dec. 30. We
really want to have them be baptized before they move so that they can
continue to learn about the gospel. We are afraid that if they don't
get baptized here in Ada, then it will be a while before they get it
done. It is a super frustrating situation. I was praying that they
wouldn't move so we could continue to teach them.
I can't remember if I have told you about Chris and Brooke yet.
That whole thing is an interesting situation. We ran into him the first
week I was here while we were out tracting. They both go the the First
Baptist church here. Chris is a really smart guy and he knows the
Bible like that back of his hand. He knows a lot. Well we have been
going and teaching them once a week since I got here. we have gone over
the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation with them. I would like to
say that everything is going well and they are going to be baptized, but
they aren't right now. They will soon though. But the big things with
them are 1. They don't believe that the Great Apostasy has happened.
2. Chris thinks that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost
are separate beings, but they are one God. He doesn't believe that they
are three separate Gods. 3. Chris thinks that when he prayed to know
if the Book of Mormon was true, he received the answer that is was not
true. There are a couple more things I just can't think of them right
now. So yeah super frustrating. And on top of all of that I am pretty
sure he has been reading some anti- Mormon material. So we aren't to
sure what is going to happen with continuing to teach him. I really
hope that we will continue to teach him.
Thursday was a great day. We had temple conference so we got to go
up to the temple. It was just a really good day. We had a training
from President Taylor and we learned more about what was happening with
the mission because of the age change. There are going to be a lot of
changes over the next six months.
Now onto Friday. We went on exchanges with another companionship
in our district. Everything was going really well until about 6:30
7:00. My stomach decided that it hated me and started giving me a bunch
of crap. It wasn't throw up bad and that stuff, it was just a really
sharp stabbing pain right in the middle of my stomach. Elder Fee and I
went back to Ada that night and I went to bed right away because it hurt
so bad. The pain was there all night long and so Saturday morning I
called Sister Taylor to find out what I should do. She told me to go to
the Emergency Room. I hated that place. Everything took so long. We
were there for a couple of hours. They took some blood and ran tests on
it. The best conclusion they could come up with is I have a stomach
virus. And then they told me I could go. It is still hurting me now
so Sister Taylor says they might have me go up to the city later this
week and have another doctor look at it if the pain doesn't go away. As
of now it looks like we are going up to the city sometime this week.
So most of Saturday I sat in bed and slept because it caused more pain
to move around.
So yeah that was my week. We did get to go watch the Christmas
devotional last night. I really enjoyed it. I am glad to hear that
everything is going well at home. Take pictures of exciting things that
happen and send them to me. I'll start sending pictures home soon.
Have fun.
Love Elder Woodward
